The digital platform was strategically designed to serve two distinct audiences: Dime’s loyal, skate-culture core – the source of its authenticity – and the broader, trend-focused audience that drives global growth and requires a more direct shopping experience. The redesign successfully merges these worlds, with the new website functioning as both an authentic cultural hub and an intuitive e-commerce engine.

Mandate
Dime MTL’s evolution from a cult skate brand into a global fashion force presented a critical digital challenge. Its platform, once perfect for a niche community, needed to support worldwide ambitions without sacrificing the authentic culture that fuelled its rise. The brand had to embrace high-performance e-commerce while staying true to its die-hard following.
To meet this moment, we engineered a new digital flagship experience built on a philosophy of duality. The site fuses a minimalist, insider aesthetic with a meticulously crafted, app-inspired user experience. This powerful combination delivers a platform that can engineer hype for its drops and handle global scale, ensuring Dime’s next chapter is as legitimate as its first.

operational efficiency
It was a real pleasure working with the team at REF. They instantly understood our business challenges, but most of all they got how our brand and culture was important to us.

Serving a dual audience
A minimalist aesthetic with a maximalist approach to UX
A minimalist aesthetic, featuring a monochrome palette and refined made-in-Montreal typography, puts the focus squarely on the products. This is paired with a mobile-first, app-inspired philosophy for ultimate intuitiveness.

On product pages, carousels were replaced by a continuous vertical scroll, creating a seamless, feed-like experience that’s polished and optimized for performance.
The size guide and colour and size selection are handled through dedicated panels. Designed mobile-first, this approach mirrors the fluidity of a native app while giving each interaction the full screen space it deserves.

Product categorization, once overly simple, now follows e-comm conventions by leveraging a polyhierarchy taxonomy to maximize discoverability.

Browsing works from two angles : by product or by model. This lets users shift between a goal-driven and an inspiration-driven experience.
Optimizing the drop model
A primary objective was to amplify the signature product drop. To do so, we simplified the notification registration and improved the product listing pages and lookbook using a mobile-first approach. This created a premium sales experience that fully leverages the brand’s FOMO DNA.
The lookbook was completely reimagined. Released a few days ahead of each drop, it lets users explore the collection’s universe and builds anticipation before anything goes on sale.

Creating dedicated hubs for culture and commerce
The site’s architecture intentionally creates distinct hubs for culture and commerce. A dedicated section serves as a cultural archive, housing Dime’s iconic videos within a unique, vintage-inspired interface. In contrast, the lookbook and collection pages are streamlined commercial tools, designed as mobile-first albums to efficiently guide users toward purchase. This separation allows the brand’s authentic voice to remain unfiltered while optimizing the path to conversion.

Building a foundation for global scale
To support its growing network of distributors, Dime’s digital infrastructure was redesigned for greater operational efficiency and now includes a country-specific pricing strategy. This new foundation provides the flexibility to scale into new markets, add languages and regionalize content, transforming the website from a storefront into a high-end global commerce engine.
